Shaving Cream Words

POSTED ON MAY 16, 2016 BY TRACEYHAYLES@OPTUSNET.COM.AU

This is a simple and fun multi-sensory activity to help children learn sight words.  It is one of our favourites and the great thing is you can do it on glass windows or doors, on a mirror or even on the shower or bath wall.

  • Buys some cheap shaving cream
  • Spray it on windows, glass doors or the shower walls
  • Provide kids with a list of sight words they have been trying to learn
  • Right your sight words in the shaving cream
This simple activity using the senses of sight, touch and vision to help your child remember their sight words.

My three kids loved this and luckily we live somewhere warm because after they were finished with their sight words they did a bit of body painting.

This activity is one in our house that gets requested again and again.

Hi, I'm Tracey!

My mission is simple : to make the science of reading easy. Can you imagine what it felt like as a qualified experienced teacher when I realized my child wasn’t learning to read like other kids. He loved books, we read books together everyday. Seriously, somedays it felt like we read dozens of books, but he just wasn’t learning to read like other kids. Rather than waiting and seeing like the education system wanted me to, I decided to take it into my own hands. I learnt, researched and trained in the science of reading.
Now, I make the science of reading easy
for every parent who want’s to support their child.
