Welcome to unit 12.

We are often taught that g can make the j sound but we are not always taught the rule about when it makes it.

G makes j when it is followed by e, i and y.

Make sure you watch the first video about Gentle Cindy. She is a great little memory hook for this week and next weeks sound.

You might want to take two weeks on this one.

Unit 20 - i plus a vowel

Remember these last units are the tricky part of learning our code.

You can take two weeks on each unit if you need.

You are far better off mastering it now over two weeks than having to revise it latter.

I plus a vowel helps explain lots of our unusual vowel combinations.

Jump in and learn all about the two sounds i plus a vowel makes.

Let’s look at some of the words we use a lot that have silent letters.
First Lesson of the Week - Silent Letters

Unit 24 - ea in head

Woohoo!

Just one sound to work on this week, ea in head.

Ea in head is a little unusual because:

1. It also make ea in leaf
2. Two vowels are making a short vowel sound.  These two letters can make the short vowel sound in head and the long vowel sound in leaf.

We have a whole week to master it so don’t rush.

Let’s jump in and start.

The last unit!

Congratulations.  You are awesome.

Look at what you have achieved.

Your consistency and hard work has really paid off.

This is the last unit and we are doing tricky words.

They are the words that break the rules we have learnt about digraphs.
