Level 2 Unit 5 - a-e in cake
This week we are starting split digraphs. What is a spilt digraph?
Remember a digraph is when we have two letters making a new sound like th, t and h make seperate sounds on their own but when they come together they make th in three.
A split digraph is when our two letters making the new sound has another letter in between, to be precise a consonant like in cake we have k between the a and the e.
Our saying to help remember this one is magic e makes a say ay. In the video I explain that e is magic it gives all its power to a to make it say ay and then it is silent.
Happy Reading!
